10 Steps to Successful Selling on eBay

10 Steps to Successful Selling on eBay

So you want to be a successful seller with your own eBay business, do you? Here's a simple, ten-step path to eBay enlightenment.

Step 1: Identify your market. Take a while to sit and watch for what sells and what doesn't out of the items you're interested in. Any market research data you can collect will be very useful to you later on. You'll probably see the 'sweet spots' quite quickly - those one or two items that always seem to sell for a good price.

Step 2: Watch the competition. Before you invest any money, see what the other sellers in your category are up to, and what their strategies are. Pay special attention to any flaws their auctions might have, because this is where you can move in and beat them at their own game.

Step 3: Find a product: Get hold of a supplier for whatever it is you want to sell, and see what the best rates you can get are - don't be afraid to ring round quite a few to get the best deal. If the eBay prices you've seen are higher than the supplier's, then you're set.

Step 4: Start small: Don't throw thousands at your idea straight away - get started slowly, see what works and what doesn't, and learn as you go. Remember that it's very cheap to try out even the craziest ideas on eBay, and who knows, they might just work!

Step 5: Test and repeat. Keep trying different strategies until you find something that works, and then don't be ashamed to keep doing it, again and again. The chances are that you've just found a good niche.

Step 6: Work out a business plan: A business plan doesn't need to be anything formal, just a few pages that outline the market opportunity you've spotted, your strategy, strengths and weaknesses of the plan and a brief budget. This is more for you than it is for anyone else.

Step 7: Invest and expand: This is the time to throw money at the problem. Buy inventory, and start spending more time on your business. Set a goal number of sales each week, increasing it each time.

Step 8: Make it official: Once you've made a few thousand dollars worth of sales, you should really register yourself as a business. Don't worry, it's not expensive or hard to do - a lawyer is the best person to help you through the process.

Step 9: Automate: You'll probably find that you're writing the same things again and again in emails or item descriptions. This is the time to give up on the manual method and turn to automated software that can create listings for you, and respond to completed auctions and payments with whatever message you provide.

Step 10: Never give up: Even when it looks like it's all going wrong, don't stop trying until you succeed. If you keep working at it then you'll almost always find that you make a real breakthrough just when things are starting to look desperate.

Once you get into the swing of things, you might start thinking that you should quit your job and take up eBay selling part time. But it's not always as easy as that - there are all sorts of factors that you need to consider. The next post will weigh up the case for and against taking up eBay full-time.

How to Create a Blog-
- It's Easy With the Right Instruction Learning how to create a blog can be incredibly intimidating if you have never done it before. It can seem awfully technical; especially when you hear talk of having to install scripts and deal with MYSQL panels. The good news is that there is a way to substantially cut down on the time it will take you to learn exactly how to become a successful niche blogger. In fact, your best learning tool is called "The Niche Blogger". This is simply the best program on the Internet because it will help even the newest of new Internet marketers start their niche blogging empire. One of the best things about this membership is that no knowledge is taken for granted. There are complete screenshots and incredibly detailed directions that show you step-by-step what you need to do for everything from niche research, to installing, marketing, and making money from your blog. She knows what it is like to want to make passive income so she can change her family's life for the better. Her honesty and compassion for helping people has really stood out in my mind and has separated The Niche Blogger membership from anything else I have purchased online. In fact, before joining The Niche Blogger I wasn't sure how to set up my blog or even if blogging was the right path for me. Since joining this membership I have been able to start several profitable blogs -

If you're not sure how to create a blog you really shouldn't spend frustrating days or even weeks trying to get your first blog on the web. In fact, doing that will only serve to frustrate you. There are many people who set out to earn money on the Internet and have to give up because of the technical details (don't be one of them!). When you are ready, here is my most fundamental advice for getting started as a photographer and for making the transition...

When you are ready, here is my most fundamental advice for getting started as a photographer and for making the transition...

** TIP #1: Choose Your “Operating Hours”

Juggling a full time job, your new business, your family life, and your personal obligations can be challenging. The easiest way to make everything fit into your schedule without stress overload is to select “operating hours” for your business and stick to them.

For example, you may decide to work at your photography business on Tuesdays from 6pm to 9pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 3pm.

Choose what works for you and set it in stone. Mark those times on your calendar. If something else comes up during those times, you are already booked. Treat your operating hours as you would treat scheduled appointments with your doctor or your book club. Remember that operating hours can change, so if your first choice of times isn’t working, modify them. But, be sure to mark the new times in your calendar.

** TIP #2: Choose a Structure for Your Business

If you are serious about being a professional photographer you will definitely want to operate your photography business as a “business.”

There are many different types of business structures, from sole proprietor to LLC to various types of corporations. They all offer different benefits so do some research to decide which one is best for you. If you choose an LLC or decide to incorporate, there are some government forms to fill out and specific activities you’ll need to do on a regular basis.

I recommend working with a professional to help you set up that type of structure. Contact an accountant or an attorney to advise and assist you. And, don’t be daunted by the effort – the rewards make the time investment all worthwhile!

** TIP #3: Find an Accountant

If you don’t have an accountant already, you’ll want to find one you like that specializes in small businesses. There are many tax advantages to running even a part-time business, and you will want to capitalize on all of them!

Also, remember that your photography business will be bringing in extra income – income that will somehow need to find its way to your tax return. A professional accountant can help you report your income properly and make sure you don’t miss any available deductions. [ED. NOTE: AWAI’s Tax Guide for Freelancers is no substitute for a real tax professional. But it can help you decide what’s right for you, and guide you in asking your tax professional the right questions to ensure you’re getting the most deductions possible. For details, visit:]

** TIP #4: Join a Professional Organization or Two

There are several professional photography organizations that work very diligently to support their membership with various benefits including education for marketing, finances, legalities, and even honing your photography skills.

Extra benefits may include introduction to current trends and networking. Staying current and connected is vital to your professional success. Many professional organizations have local chapters which allow you to become involved on a regular basis.

Do it! Your professional growth will accelerate because of it.

** TIP #5: Brand Yourself

From the day you “open your doors,” so to speak, every image you create, every communication you send, will be a messenger for your identity.

Make sure your identity is one that you choose.

How do you want your business to be perceived? Start by selecting a name for your business, even if that name is your own personal name. Create a logo, a symbol for your company, even if your logo is simply your name typed in a certain typeface. Choose colors for your identity and stick to them.

Your name, your logo, and your colors will become part of your “brand,” so make sure that each element reflects the desired perception. It is a known fact in advertising that the same message must be seen an average of seven times for it to register with a viewer. Make sure that every time someone sees your brand it is consistent. Soon, it will become recognizable, and that is your goal.

Once you have the basics out of the way, you are ready to start with the fun stuff -- taking photographs and making money!

There are many ways to make money in photography -- from selling your images as fine art, to portraiture and marketing your photography as stock. You may want to try your hand at each area to see what works best for you.

Your day job can be a great source of subject matter for any of these areas. Do you travel for your job? Cityscapes and local photography can be great subjects for fine art as well as stock photography.

Do you have coworkers with families? They may be great prospects for portraiture. (Be sure to use your own judgment as to whether or not your current employer will be okay with this.)

And, remember earlier when I mentioned the “In”? Whatever industry you are currently in, there’s likely a need for sellable stock photography images dealing with that industry. Police, medical, office, even landscaping and homebuilding images are all stock worthy. Just be aware of proprietary concerns, and don’t do anything that would jeopardize your current employment.

Getting started as a professional photographer is no small undertaking. But it can be refreshing for the attitude, and rewarding for the pocketbook.

Don’t be discouraged if it takes a little longer to see the financial rewards than you had hoped. Stick to it and the money will come. Learn the ins and outs while you still have the security of your current job. Eventually, when the money is predictably coming in, you will be able to make professional photography your full time “day job.” And THAT is when you will soar.

Buying a website for selling

Buying a website for selling

If you are into buying and selling website business, it is a must that you are an avid fan of the Internet itself. Spending hours surfing some websites and looking for prospect can give you an idea about the trend of buying and selling websites today.

Indeed, the search for a website to purchase almost always starts with a visit to a web site. Sometimes the prospective buyer has a very definite idea of the type of website wanted. But, often the website buyer is a first time buyer and is still in the formative or exploratory phase of the search. Many first time buyers wonder what kind of website is best for them to purchase. That's a tough question to answer without some idea of the buyer's resources, skills and needs.

If you are buying a website for selling, it is a must for you to determine the best website for that may work for you personally. If you are about to buy an existing website, here the some of the things that you should keep in mind:

- The number of days per week do you want to work because it will give you an approximate idea how much time you will be spending on the site;

- The need to have enough set of employees to know if you can handle the website and if you can maintain it according to general acceptance; and

- The ability to spend time on the website because this will determine if you can give enough time in maintaining, updating and supplying enough information as needed.

These are just some of the major questions that you can answer to initially have an idea in purchasing a website. Successful people in this field agree that open and honest answers will allow you to quickly narrow your search and save you much time and aggravation. Many websites offers buyer registration wherein there is a questionnaire which can help you narrow down your search and can help you find the website that you have been dreaming about or the types of websites that you think you can easily sell.

In the selection process, the most important thing to remember is familiarizing yourself about the "Opportunity Profile." This is some sort of a report that will give information about the website that you're interested in. Here, all the pieces of information that you need in helping you decide which site is the best for you can be found.

The common "Opportunity Profile" usually contains a brief description of the website you have in mind, summed up information on the financial data in the span of its existence, and some of the additional facts like the size of employment and such. These pieces of information are needed to ensure that the buyer can have almost everything that he or she needs to know before buying a website.

Once you have reviewed the "Opportunity Profile," there is a greater chance of you having a better understanding of the website—especially its business operations. You can access as many "opportunity profiles" as you want to in order to find the best one that would work for your own business. By accessing different "opportunity profiles," you can review financial data and can even ask questions and other queries to the owner. Once you have listed all your questions, you can communicate with owner and can start the negotiations this early.

Communicating with the website owner can give you various benefits. For one, he or she can answer almost everything that you have in mind when it comes to the website. Aside from that, you can also get tips from him or her in buying and selling websites.

The Best Methods of Sending High Quality Traffic to Your Website

By Jarad Gibbs

Even if you are brand new to Internet Marketing you should understand how valuable high quality traffic can be. Before we talk about getting traffic to your website or your blog, it's important that you understand that all traffic isn't created equal - one method may get you laser targeted traffic, but might not help in building your brand and on the other hand, another method could help you establish your brand but doesn't get you relevant traffic. That being said, let's take a look at some of the things you can do to build your traffic volume that also helps you strengthen the brand you've been working so hard to create.

A key factor to help you with your traffic generation is how active you are. Nowadays you have a lot of different methods for getting people introduced and on to your site pages but the results you get from those methods depends on how actively you approach them. For example, if you're running a blog about 'dog training', then you should try and be active when blogging about the subject, creating new content, interacting and discussing on related blogs, etc. If you get slow or go dormant, it will be obvious that the results you want will do the same thing.

One method of traffic generation that is not used nearly enough is increasing your website's URL exposure by including it with all of your offline literature like your business cards, fliers, letterheads, etc. Some webmasters even paint the URL of their websites on their cars. The primary point here is that there are plenty of ways to gain exposure for your website or blog--including offline methods. Try to be creative and see if there are ways that you can adjust your approach to get even more targeted traffic for your website. For example, if you sell an eBook for "Weight Loss" you can work with the different Weight Loss studios in your area and ask them to send people to your site--you can even give them a commission based on the sales that they generate.

Participate in forums and discussion boards that relate to your niche, these are great places--though the links in your signature--to generate highly targeted traffic. So using the forums/discussion boards ethically, without spamming them can help you build your credibility and at the same time, it can give you the needed traffic. The best part about this traffic generation method is that it generates high quality traffic; there is no doubt that when you properly leverage the power of forums, you'll see a gradual uptick in your visitor flow as you add more and more posts to the forums in which you participate.

Build a new and beautiful design for your site and then submit it to some of the CSS Gallery websites that often feature great designs. Not only do you get free backlinks this way, you will get a bunch of free exposure. Even though this method won't bring you hoards of traffic, sometimes even a few interested visitors can work wonders. Your aim should be to utilize every single traffic generation technique that you come across so that you're not getting dependent on thing. All new Internet Marketers struggle with generating traffic and this is because they think that there is some sort of magic technique to getting all the traffic they want but this is rarely what actually works. Getting relevant visitors to your website is about creating and following a system that works for you, a system that comprises of techniques that take time and effort to implement, but do give results. So when you are able to be patient and work hard go ahead and put what you've learned here to work and watch as you get the good results you've always wanted.
